Things to know when verifying a mining permit.

1

Read the status first

ACTIVE/VALID means the latest official permit period is current. EXPIRED means the latest official period has ended.

2

Check the period

The result identifies whether the permit is the initial issue or its first, second or third approved renewal.

3

Compare key details

Compare the company name, mineral, region, permit period and renewal level with the physical permit.

4

Check the official address

The scanned QR must open this official DMPR verification.dmpr.gov.za portal. Do not rely on a result displayed by another website.

Why verification is scan-only

Each QR code contains a permanentely linked to one mining permit.

Contact the Department when:
  • The QR do not open DMPR portal.
  • The active result does not match the company, mineral or region on the permit.
  • The portal cannot find the scanned QR token.
Important Notice: A match confirms that the scanned permit is in the official register. The status shown after scanning determines whether that particular permit is currently active or not.
